Joe Zombie- The series that inspired me to animate

Posted by LittleLuckyLink - October 19th, 2010

I just wanted to make a little post talking about what made me want to animate. Many of you may know Rob D from the "Cyanide and Happiness" comics and cartoons, but I've actually been a fan of him for many years. He used to make some pretty great stick movies. Long ago, he had a pretty great series called Joe Zombie. Joe Zombie is probably my single favorite series on Newgrounds.

Click here to watch the Joe Zombie series.

The series, when looked at today and compared with other Flash movies, may seem simplistic, but really that doesn't bother me one bit. I still love the series. Actually, Episode 6 is my fucking favorite. It's actually pretty damn remarkable to me. I look at some of the stuff he did in that movie and I wonder how the fuck he did it- the 3-D and various dust-looking effects and stuff. (Only a bit of Swift 3-D was used in the movie by the way). But either way, amazing. Great camera movements, sound, everything. I can only wonder what Episode 7 would look like...

Anyway, I love everything about the series, and looking back, it's kinda funny how I was scared of it years ago. Pretty much every movie I've made has some sort of reference to the series, but only a few people actually get it since in all honest, popularity for the series has died or shifted to C&H.

Now if only us older guys could get an update on JZ7... Shit, I'll admit, when I saw Episode 6 on the front page, I fucking screamed. It took like three years if I remember correctly. That was in August of 2006..

Imagine the how many Easy Bake ovens I would shit to see even a screenshot of it today..

i saw long time ago and there will be no ep7 HE DEAD

Uh.. No. He's actually making comics. It's a series called Cyanide and Happiness. He releases cartoons about them once in a while along with the other Explosm guys. You have to have heard of it, I mean, only every single episode has been on the front page..

silly billy noobs

Rob himself said that he finished it, he just doesn't want to upload it.

I remember him joking about it quite a bit actually.
Saying various things about finishing JZ7 and stuff, 'twas prolly a joke

Loved the series.

ya joe zombie's a classic.. loved his recent one, which is now considered extremely old. Maybe he'll go and complete it one day

I loved Joe Zombie long before I even heard of Cyanide and Happiness. In fact, Joe Zombie is the main reason I know about C&H at all.

He'd better freakin' make the final episode. Episode 6 remains among the greatest stick animations ever.

Agreed with every single thing you said there, Bro

I never really watched Joe zombie , but C&H is fucking hilarious , my fav C&H cartoon would probably be "pigeon"

thats really awesome but is there going to be a night of maddness

no.

I'm such a fucking dick sucker.

Couldn't agree more!

That's such a great series, Joe Zombie also inspired me, and is still my favorite movie(s) on Newgrounds.

I love how when you make a post not related to madness you barely get any comments.

Newgrounds sucks, right?

I LOVE Joe Zombie. When I was probably 7 years old I watched this series constantly. It's funny how when something this isn't mentioned as much during it's own popularity, but instead it's mentioned many years later by one of the best Madness animators EVER. It's a shame though that even though YOU mentioned it (of all people), still to this very day a microscopic portion of people actually talk about it. Honestly though, I am tired of defending a series that isn't even very popular anymore. But that doesn't mean I'm tired of the series in general. That, is because Rob D kept me on the edge of my seat for a couple seconds, and then ripped me off with the ending being one of my favorite characters (besides Joe Zombie) getting killed off and Joe (I think he's there) still at the rooftops doing god knows what. If somebody mentions Joe Zombie to me, the only thing I would say is that I WANT a Part 7. I'm begging for it so hard, if I had to sell my soul to do it, I would. It's THAT hard.

i didn't even have a computer back then in 2006, plus i didn't even know how to use one yet till 2014..But now i can pretty much fix my own computers...and all the other good stuff, man you guys were Lucky to have a computer back then and internet shhhhhit.
