Love it! Do you tend to make these traditionally or digitally? Either way, this is yet another fantastic piece. I ask because some of the coloring, especially the foreground and background, look like they could be watercolor. You've done an excellent job at blending the colors, and I especially like the distant stars and planets in the background. Awesome sauce.

Shamfoo responds:

Thanks! Most of my stuff on NG is digital. But I like to give it a semi-traditional feel by using a lot of textures.

Absolutely fantastic. Cosmic horror, let alone in such a graphic style such as yours, isn't exactly too easy to pull off, but you've done EXCELLENT! I just recently started listening to Haken, and I think that this design definitely fits them! I would absolutely 100% wear this. I love the striking neon green, both where you used it to its full glory in the eye and teeth, but also how you subtly outlined the creature with it as well.

Shamfoo responds:

Damn, thank you! Really want to do something else in this style.

First off, I completely agree with your commentary- King Kong is super epic and I love not only his, but Skull Island's lore as a whole.
Anyway, cool piece! Great way to pay respect to his royalty. I feel like I'd go mad trying to get his hair shaded just right, but you've done a great job at it, especially on the highlights of his fur.

SpaceDragon14 responds:

Thank you very much!

Awesome! I commented on Instagram on my phone earlier, but it's super cool to see it in a higher resolution on my computer, where things such as shading and smaller details are far more apparent. As I said, the coloring and contrast is ON POINT! I absolutely love the darker purple shading in the street. The fire loop is seamless and nicely animated, as is the fire within the vehicle. The shading on the trees, streetlight and curb is impeccable down to every last pixel. The subtle stars in the night sky are also a great touch!

moertel responds:

Thanks so much for your feedback! Much appreciated (and I knew the name sounded familiar).

Love it. Really digging the color palette here, and the attention to details in the shading of the gameboy- namely with the buttons and screen. Absolutely no complaints here- this is a great piece and compliments your Wild Switch submission as well. Hope to see more!

DaaWeeD responds:

thank you so much, thanks for this huge feedback. Other pieces are planned ;)

Good shading and detail, especially in regards to contrast and also his beard. I like how you captured his eyes. His monologue scene in the movie is super cool, as he doesn't blink throughout the entire thing. You captured the menacing, piercing nature of his eyes in that scene very well. Nicely done.

BoyPorcelain responds:

Ahh you're too kind, yeah i made the whites of his eyes a bit brighter than they actually are in the movie as i really wanted them to POP, thanks for the comment! :)

Very nice atmosphere. I like how the colors are somewhat muted, yet really pop in an almost watercolor fashion. The loop, from what I can see, is seamless and very well done. I can totally relate to the aesthetic of this image, down to the anchor pillows and succulents. I don't exactly have a nook, but with some furniture adjustments, boom, I've got something close to a nook. I've definitely been cherishing these snowy days off from work as well. Been trying the napping thing, but unfortunately I tend to overdo it by several hours.. Anyway, keep up the good work! This really encompasses a dreamy atmosphere that is tied up neatly by the subtle details such as the shadows from the window and the shimmers of light. It'd definitely be cool to see more of these relaxing moving images.

Zaccura responds:

Haha, yeah the “waking up before it’s basically night time” part of a nap can be elusive sometimes… one of the reasons I only recently dared to re-try it. XD
I’m really glad you like the artwork, and that the loop is good. You’ve no idea how long I spent squinting at the frames to see if the snowflakes matched at the beginning and end lmao.
It was fun to play with animation so I’ll prolly give it a go some more in future illustrations.
Thanks for the comment! :D

I 100% want this on a tapestry. This is absolutely stunning. The color scheme is hypnotic.

Shamfoo responds:

Thank you! Maybe one day!

No clue what someone below was complaining about with it looking too "eerie" or why that would even begin to take away from the beauty in the first place. Eerie or not, this is yet another magnificent work. I could sit and watch the lights change for hours, probably. I love that the rain isn't too overpowering or pronounced. I can almost hear the raindrops. I think that an opportunity was missed in bringing a subtle ripple to the reflections of light in the foreground, which would have probably added to the atmosphere here. That aside, you definitely have a knack for capturing snapshots from life and executing them beautifully in pixel format.

moertel responds:

Thanks so much for your feedback! For the reflections I was aiming to let them look like wet concrete, not necessarily puddles; which I guess is why adding ripples didn't even occur to me. This piece was a hard one in general because of all those different textures. Still learning in that regard, so suggestions like these are much appreciated.

The colors here really pop! I love them! Is that a lighthouse? The small details such as the light hitting the rocks and part of the road, to the shooting stars, really put this piece up above and beyond. Amazing work.

moertel responds:

It is a lighthouse, indeed. :D It always makes me happy whenever someone notices all the little details.

Nightmares, dreams, and everything between.
