I really admire the artistry that went into every shot of this short animation- my favorite being the dark, lonely road with what appear to be eyes looking in from the shadows, and then the frame that appears around the shot. I thought that the pacing, atmosphere, and music really gave this a dream-like feeling, perhaps encompassing and reflecting the overall mundane nature of day to day life. Perhaps I'm digging a bit too deep into this and this may be a reach, but I couldn't help but notice that our protagonist was reaching for what appeared to be alcohol. I could definitely interpret, from my own experience, the addictive and dangerous escape that is alcoholism. Perhaps the creature that appears could symbolize this danger in some ways, but that's just one of the interpretations I can come up with while watching this.

While I think that the ambient soundtrack is perfect, the ending felt somewhat anticlimactic to me, and I think that it could have perhaps used some type of low bass or distorted heavy breathing, but nothing too loud or jarring that might take away from the dream-like nature of this. Overall, this is a neat lil' flick. Very well illustrated, great atmosphere, and a nice, interpretive short story.

Mothworm responds:

Thanks, I'm glad you like it. The music was from Yume Nikki, not by me.

This is so cool and very well animated, I especially love all of the different camera angles and perspective changes. Great work!

awys responds:

thank you

Lololol, nice! Truly a testament to how Hank is an unstoppable force, the Agent should have told him to check out the arctic region perhaps xD
Great to see you still posting mate! The only thing I may recommend is perhaps adding some motion when the characters are speaking to each other- such as hand movements, shrugs, breathing, etc. Aside from that, good work! Happy MC anniversary!

Crazymonkey154 responds:

The arctic would've had a better chance of stopping him for sure! I wish I thought of those motion ideas, but will keep them in mind for future animations. No way will I stop submitting stuff here anytime soon! Next up will be whatever I make for Madness Day 2022.

I can interpret this in a few different ways regarding internal battles, but I can also see this as a sort of "molting" process of growth. Not a bad animation. I like how the angle changes in a cinematic, 3D nature. Would love to see this concept explored further.

nobones-art responds:

I'm glad that you've found multiple ways to interpret it! I'm working on a short film which has similar camera movements that also delves into surreal feelings, but it is a little way off yet.

Happy birthday <333333
Supa smooth, great animation and sound!

Zapchon responds:

THANK YOU!!! I love your work man

Nice! It's been a while since I've seen a decent stop-motion animation on here. This one was super smooth, with each shot maintaining a satisfying consistency as well. Everything looked and felt pretty natural.

PencilKiller responds:

Yes, that's what I was going for. :)

Lmao this is great. Super smooth animation, witty, and lots of fun! I can't get over Goku's gun that has like five scopes stacked on top. I'd love to see more, especially if it involves delicious condiments.

FloppyFins responds:

Thank you so much! It's an absolute honor coming from you! You've been one of my biggest inspirations over the years.

Not a bad start, I like the atmosphere that was created. I feel like the wind animation could use some easing up though- it seems a bit jerky and makes it look a lot windier than it probably is. This is mostly apparent when the fire is on the screen, as the fire seems to be burning with little to no interruption from the wind. Keep it up though, like I said, there was a good sense of atmosphere. I liked the overhead views with the shadows of the clouds at the beginning.

HapiToons responds:

Thank you for the advice, I am striving to improve my craft. I'll write these down on my notes, again thank you and have a good day :)

Interesting.. I'm really digging the animation style here, and especially the different perspective shots.

FrankyWish responds:
