Greetings, just popping in to wish everyone a happy solstice.

I'm still cranking out commission work, but between projects I've found time to wrap up "Atlantean Arbitrium," a painting I've been sporadically hacking at for nearly two years. Check it out, and also the UV blacklight version

Happy Yule, and enjoy the full, magnificient winter solstice moon!

Ahoi.

I'm still alive and doing stuff. I just recieved a bunch of art commissions, and on top of my several works in progress that I'm trying to get out before 2019, it's a bit hectic. I'm always trying to increase my productivity, and lately I think I've cracked some major internal codes as to how to do that. The challenge is fighting fatigue from a full-time job, really. The goal is to cut down on time spent away from art and animation, and I'm just around the corner of getting rid of nasty old debts that restrict my budget. That being said, I've got a pretty large appetite for what's to come in 2019..

Till then, I should hopefully have a good handful of new artwork posted in these next few weeks. I recently posted a painting of Pyramid Head that I've been sitting on for a few months, primarily due to the long waits involved in the process of oil painting. I've got several other oil paintings that are a mere two or three coats away from completion that I've been jabbing at, with some acrylic and watercolor paintings I've been working on inbetween.

Here's a sneak peak at one of my WIPs with the lights turned off ;)

So first of all, I wanted to apologize for hyping the release of DOTM: Overtime for September 22, 2018.

At this point I'm sure I've sounded like a broken record, life this, work this, stress this, etc. Those things have been the bane of every previous attempt to release this damn thing. So what happened this time? Well, as many of you may know, I only recently replaced my computer, finally ending a battle with technology and obsolete versions of Flash- but not without starting a few new ones. For one thing, Flash CS6 is pretty neat, but I've had several problems with it. For one thing, I've got this annoying fucking issue of not being able to directly import audio for sound effects, meaning I have to put sound effects in a .fla file, open it in Flash, and then import the files from one .fla into the other. Flash CS6 has a pretty decent backup and recovery system for how much it fucking crashes. I'm not a software developer but it kinda seems like they couldn't figure out how to make their shit not crash so they just focused that energy to preventing loss.

That being said, I don't know what this year will bring, but it's definitely possible that we'll see some major progress on Overtime. I don't want to make any promises for September 22, 2019, but I can at least promise that unless I die or something, this animation will be finished. Until the time comes when I can focus my time primarily on art, I don't really have any other animation projects in mind. It's definitely something I'd like to return to. I have plenty of "Of the Madness" spin-offs/prequels in mind, but we'll see what the Madness community looks like in a few years..

Anyway, I think that's all I have to say for now.

tl;dr: Flash CS6 is okay I guess, I'm currently rehabilitating my productivity, DotM: Overtime coming soon.

Greetings!

I just recently completed a painting that I've been working on for over a year and a half. I originally sketched the idea over six and a half years ago, back in 2012. It was at that time that I was finally beginning to figure out how to add color to my drawings, so I told myself that whenever I deemed myself decent enough at painting, I would take on the challenge that would be a full-sized, full colored, oil painted version of this:

With this guy, it was a matter of practicing and waiting for just the right time to dive in. One day, I just felt ready. I hopped on my bike, rode to the nearest art store, and picked up the biggest canvas that I could possibly carry. I used bungee cords to strap the canvas to my body, and fought strong headwind back home. Over the course of a year and a half, the final painting went through many different faces- I repainted the water four times, I repainted the sky twice, added multiple layers to the serpents, and repainted the sailboat three times. Between a full-time job and multiple other art projects and life happenings, I have absolutely no clue how many hours were put into the painting. Naturally with it being an oil painting, I would sometimes have to wait a few days or weeks for sections to dry.

"Art is never finished, only abandoned." - Leonardo da Vinci

Looking at what I chose to call the finished product, I see some things that conflict with the idea that this painting should be a more realistic-looking fantasy painting. I see opportunities in shading, and perhaps a few opportunities in the water, but with what I already have, it feels complete to me. However, this is definitely not the last of my nautical, sea monster themed pieces. This painting has taught me a lot, but I definitely still have a long way to go. It feels good to close this chapter.

In other news, in case anyone missed my previous post, I got a new (used) computer that is doing pretty good so far. I made the most exciting discovery that Flash CS6 can open Flash 8 files and started doing a thing:

WELL HOWDY THERE

I see we've got some fancy ass new user pages. I really like these! I'll have to doll mine up tomorrow once I finish breaking in this new computer. After several months of battling with a dying Macbook and a 2009 Toshiba Satellite with Windows Vista, I've finally upgraded! This guy came pre-loaded with a bunch of Adobe programs, including -gasp- Flash CS6. **See edit**Unfortunately Overtime is still a Flash 8 file which is several versions behind backward compatibility (unless times have changed?) so I'll still have to battle Vista in order to crank that bad boy out. I had really hoped to get it done this year, and that actually still remains a possibility. **

**EDIT!

My old .fla files actually work with CS6! I'm so relieved to be able to finish Overtime on such a speedy little devil like this!

I'm gonna be posting some new art here, so keep an eye peeled for that. I recently posted a fun little ditty involving a sledgehammer to the fucking dome.

In other news, Seancglover is working on a project to archive classic Madness tribute animations, as well as organizing a series of podcasts with the animators. I'm pretty stoked to be a part of this, so definitely head over and check out the progress. So if you've been dabbling in the realm of the animated Madness for a few years, hit him up!

Anyway that's all for now. Enjoy this photo I took from a recent camping trip:

Ahoi!

With festival season right around a cold corner, I've begun the process of stocking up some inventory. Soon I'll have a good handful of prints, products, and at long last, business cards once again. I recently revisited my Society6 account, and have been regularly adding new art to be printed on tapestries, phone cases, rugs, towels, coffee mugs, shower curtains, etc etc etc. A few friends of mine have gotten some neat shirts and tapestries, and I must say, they look stunning. Society6 is holding a 25% off EVERYTHING sale today and tomorrow (updated 1/28) so take a gander and if anything stands out, use promo code "ARTLOVE" at checkout :) Here's a link.

In other news, I'm beginning to bring my biggest painting to date to a close. A vision over 6 years old that was once merely a black and white sketch in a sketch book is finally seeing the light. I actually refrained from starting this painting until my skills were developed to my comfort level. Between painting the sunset, clouds, ocean, water splashes and reflections, this definitely is one of the most difficult paintings, if not the most difficult, that I've worked on. Needless to say, I'm having a lot of fun with it:

1933442_151648847881_IMG_0054.jpg

Anyway, that's my current priority. I'm hoping to have it finished up within the next month or so. Afterward, I'll be back to commission work between painting at festivals and whatnot.

In my previous post, I mentioned something about something coming out in September of this year...

This year is going to be very busy for me, but I still have very strong intent to finish what I started. I truly miss animating and as intimidating as it is to jump right back and finish up something that hasn't been touched in over a year, that previously hadn't been touched in nearly four years, I am still pretty excited. I'm sure by now we've all heard the stories. Life happenings have put Overtime in development hell. I had strong intent to finish it last year, but let's just say the environment I was living in did not have fertile soil for the seeds of happiness, comfort, and inspiration. The only concern I see arising is the end of my lease this summer. Hopefully the move won't put too large of a pause on production, but that's what getting started early is for. Remember I'm still working a full-time job, painting on the side, and attempting to keep sleep as an aspect of my life, so please bear with me lmao.

Anyway, more fun things shall come soon. Thanks for stopping by!

Hello, just thought I'd drop a post to let everyone know I'm still alive. I've got some big ideas for 2018, primarily a heavier focus on my artwork. I'll be making some investments into getting more prints and products made, as well as taking festival season head-on. I'll have more updates as time passes. I also still plan on having something special for everyone in September.

Stay tuned!

Hello hello. This is probably the 500th time that I've gone several months without posting anything. About a year ago I was hyping everyone up for a 2017 release of Dusk of the Madness Overtime. With further issues surrounding the old computer that the file is stored on as well as life and its fistful of turmoil, I have only worked on it on a few occassions. That being said, I unfortunately don't see a 2017 release happening. It is NOT cancelled though. I can't stress that enough. It's just delayed as fuck.

Between a full time job and painting, I couldn't see myself finishing it unless I dedicated every second of my days that weren't working to animating.

I recently got out of a very parasitic and toxic relationship/living situation. I'm still in Colorado living happily and quietly with my cats. It's a bit of a financial stretch but it's doable. I've been able to focus on artwork and expression like never before. I've got several really huge painting projects going on at this moment, and I'm excited to share them in the coming months.

One of my more recent pieces, Truth Patrol, was recenly front paged! I'm very thankful and delighted to have something of mine featured on the front page once more.

Anyway, I'll have more updates surrounding Overtime and artwork once things settle down just a tiny bit more.

Y'all have a good'n ya hear now

Hey there! Sorry I missed last week's weekly Overtime screenshot, I try to upload them during the weekends but in my current state without internet, that's a little difficult and I've been busy all week otherwise. So here are two screenshots!

I also uploaded a new painting today, titled For the Land, check it out!
